▶ Plastic vs. Silicone

Study shows that only 9% of plastic waste has been recycled globally. In principle, almost all plastic can be recycled. In reality? There are a variety of obstacles that stop us from recycling plastics. Plastic recycling does not always make environmental and economic sense to do so.

While silicone is definitely a better alternative to plastic in almost every aspect, silicone recycling is currently still difficult and challenging. It is safe to say that silicone outperforms plastics in almost every way, but is silicone the best solution?

▶ Conventional Cotton vs. Organic Cotton

Conventionally grown cotton is bad for the environment due to its high water consumption and pollution, soil degradation, greenhouse gas emissions and use of harmful pesticides and fertilizers. As the textile industry’s demand booms over supply, conventional cotton production is accelerated to fit the market, causing a greater environmental impact.

There is no doubt that there’s an organic cotton revolution going on. What might shock you is that organic cotton only made up approximately 0.95% of global cotton, according to a 2021 report by Textile Exchange. What can we do to accelerate the transition process?
