Think Twice Before You Throw Them Away!

Do you have any idea how much waste humans produce each year?
According to The World Bank, the world generates 2.01 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste annually. When looking forward, global waste is expected to grow to 3.40 billion tonnes by 2050, more than double population growth over the same period.

Luckily, more and more corporations are aware of this big problem and trying to solve it, in their own way. Let TGB Charity show you some cool solutions and see what we all can do to play a part.

Close the loop

Have you ever wondered where the plastic bottle goes, when you throw it into a recycling bin? Coca-Cola and science icon Bill Nye give the answer in the film here

This stop-motion film features an animated—and recycled—likeness of Nye who explains the end-to-end recycling process. It takes viewers on the circular journey of a plastic bottle, starting from the time it’s put in a recycling bin to returning to the shelf as a 100% recycled bottle (excluding cap and label). Together, we can help to close the loop and create a world without plastic waste.

Recycle, Reuse, Reduce

Can your old clothing improve the future? UNIQLO says yes! Below TGB Charity will show you how UNIQLO uses technologies to open up new links between people, clothing, and the global environment.

The program RE.UNIQLO has been launched for environmental sustainability. In the program, UNIQLO collects its secondhand clothes in stores for reuse and deliver them to people in need worldwide in the form of emergency clothing aid for refugee camps and disaster areas together with many NGOs. Clothing that cannot be reused is recycled as fuel or soundproofing material.

Buyback & Resell

And there are more benefits of recycling than you thought. If you don’t need your IKEA furniture anymore, the Swedish retailer will even pay you to get it back!

With IKEA’s Buyback & Resell program, you sell your used IKEA furniture in a safe, streamlined way, and you’ll get IKEA in-store credit to refresh your home! Someone else buys your old stuff second hand from IKEA and gives it a new home. One little action can have a big impact on your wallet and the planet, isn’t it cool?

Next time, when you weed your old stuff out, you can choose the way to save the Earth together with TGB Charity
