Build Hope through the Power of Play

We construct a truly 3 generational play space for kids, teens, moms, dads and grandparents in Japan!

The Matsuzaki-Ozaki Park is planned by the Japanese government after the coast of Kesennuma City was totally razed by the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011. We donate ¥7,281,000 to our partner, Playground of Hope, and we’re building a playground in the park! The local residents voted for the recreational equipment they want and also participated in the construction process with other volunteers.

So far, we’ve finished the construction and all the equipment has been settled – a set of outdoor gym, a spring rider, a sand box, a mini tunnel, and a 6.3m high rope pyramid!

The Matsuzaki-Ozaki Park will officially open in April 2021, and we will hold an opening ceremony along with BBQ party for the local residents. In particular, the children will be invited for a special activity on the ceremony. Let’s get ready for the event!

The Matsuzaki-Ozaki park will serve as a place for 4,500 Kesennuma local residents to linger and relax, while also providing disaster prevention functions.

When volunteers come together...(even when the average age is 60+) there just ain’t no mountain high enough!
